Ring Sizing Guide: Get It Right the First Time

Getting ring size right is the difference between a piece you wear every day and one that lives in a drawer. Here's the no-nonsense version.

The easiest method: a string and a ruler

  1. Cut a thin strip of paper or grab a piece of string.
  2. Wrap it snug around the base of the finger you're sizing.
  3. Mark the overlap with a pen.
  4. Lay it flat and measure the length in millimeters.
  5. Match that number to the circumference column in our size chart.

Do this at the end of the day, not in the morning. Fingers swell throughout the day. Cold fingers run small and will lie to you.

The other method: use a ring you already own

If you've got a ring that fits the target finger well, measure the inner diameter across the widest point in millimeters. Match it to the diameter column.

US ring size chart

US size Circumference (mm) Diameter (mm)
5 49.3 15.7
6 51.9 16.5
7 54.4 17.3
8 57.0 18.1
9 59.5 18.9
10 62.1 19.8

Between sizes?

Go up. It's easier to add a sizing bead later than it is to stretch a too-tight ring. Also: the dominant hand (your right if you're right-handed) is typically half a size larger than the other hand. Factor that in.

Surprise proposal?

Three tricks:

  1. Borrow a ring. Grab one of theirs from the jewelry box, trace the inner circle on paper, bring the tracing to a jeweler or measure the diameter yourself.
  2. Ask their friends. Most people have had the "ring size" conversation with someone close. Friends and sisters know.
  3. Guess and size later. We do free exchanges within 30 days. Pick the most common size (US 6 for women, US 10 for men) and exchange if needed.

Sizing after purchase

We don't resize pieces after shipping — the metalwork would compromise the setting and our warranty. But we do free exchanges within 30 days. Email returns@stoneblvd.co with your new size and we'll ship the replacement the day we receive the original back.

Still not sure? Email support@stoneblvd.co with your measurements and we'll help you pick.
